This college-level Advocacy Internship Program primarily recruits interested students seeking a degree in Social Work or Human Services. The purpose of this Advocacy Internship Program is to develop victim service professionals that will serve native victims of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout the rural and remote areas of the Navajo Nation.

The DFVS program has developed a “pipeline” of effective Advocates and Victim Specialists trained and experienced in western healing methods, as well as traditional native healing ceremonies and customs. Interns will be able to draw from both methods in the design and deployment of individualized crisis service and healing plan provisions. Interns will acquire individualized training, guidance, and field support from Navajo Nation Criminal Investigations (NNCI) and other victim service providers on the Navajo Nation and other non-profit organizations who are our partners for intern job placement at completion of program.
