Transportation Dispatch


The Dispatcher works to direct the day-to-day route and trip operations of Capacity Builders, Inc.’s (CBI’s) Transportation services: Let’s Go Transportation, Red Apple Transit, including the medical, non-emergency services. The position assists with organizing and conducting activities to assure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance, plus tracks and reports sign-in/sign-out times, assures routes are timely, and communicates service issues to the appropriate staff and management. This work is done in compliance with the procedures defined by the Clients’ needs and in conformance with CBI’s policies and procedures, as well as in compliance with the City of Farmington (Red Apple Transit contracted services), and transportation regulatory agencies, such as State and Federal Departments of Transportation.

Position Requirements

  • Use of computer, keyboard and monitor is necessary.  

  • Must be able to lift and carry approximately 15 pounds. 

  • Must be able to speak English and hear spoken words. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with numerous interruptions 

  • Must be able to speak English and listen, hearing sound and words. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills

Additional Requirements

  • Trustworthy

  • Sitting for long periods of time.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. 

  • Must be 18 years old or older. 

  • Two+ years’ experience in transportation routing, dispatching, and scheduling preferred. 

  • One year experience withing with the applicable transit scheduling system preferred. 

  • Knowledge of GPS and GIS systems preferred. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Good organization skills with attention to timeliness and details. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours as required. 

  • Must be able to demonstrative effective use of scheduling software, two-way radio community, and data analysis skills. 

  • Possess valid authorization to work in the United States. 

  • Must have driving experience. 

  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background and department of motor vehicle background check. 

  • Possession of a current Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. 

  • Skills in the use of computers, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
