Developing Future Victim Specialist

The Navajo Youth Builders Future Victim Specialist Intern Program recruits interested college students living in the Four Corners seeking a degree in Social Work or other Human Services. The purpose of this internship program is to develop victim service professionals that will serve Navajo victims of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout the rural and remote areas of the Navajo Nation.
The DFVS program will develop a “pipeline” of effective Victim Specialists trained and experienced in Western healing methods, as well as traditional Navajo healing ceremonies and customs. Interns will be able to draw from both methods in the design and deployment of individualized crisis service and healing plan provisions.
Interns will acquire individualized training, guidance, and field support from Navajo Nation Criminal Investigations (NNCI) and any victim service providers on the Navajo Nation and border regions.
